CAT Notification 2017 – Important Dates, Eligibility, Syllabus, and Other Relevant Information

IIM Lucknow has announced CAT notification 2017 according to which, CAT registrations will start from 9th of August 2017.

CAT – common admission test – is a common entrance test for top 20 IIMs in India that’s conducted each year. This time IIM Lucknow is afforded with the responsibility to conduct CAT exam in India.

IIMs – Indian Institute of Management – are the top ranking b-schools in India, to which millions of aspirants seek admission each year. Therefore, these aspirants are required to apply for CAT exam.

The CAT scores are valid not just for IIMs also for other top ranking b-schools in India. Hence, if aspirants are not able to secure seats in IIMs then they could seek admission to any other top ranking b-school.

As notification is out now, we bring you important information related to CAT 2017. However, it is important for all aspirants to go through the notification in detail before applying for it.

CAT 2017 Important Dates

Registration Start Date: 9th August 2017

Last Date to Apply: 20th September 2017 (5 pm)

Admit Card: 18th October to 26th November 2017

CAT 2017 Exam Date: 26th November 2017

Results: Second Week of January 2018

CAT 2017 Eligibility Criteria

The minimum eligibility criteria to appear for CAT exams are:

  • Graduation with minimum 50 percent marks (General) from a recognized university. However, in case of reserved categories – Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and Person with Disability.
  • Moreover, aspirants in their final year or awaiting their final year results from a recognized university are eligible.


  • Total of 15 percent seats for SC, 7.5 percent seats for ST and 27% seats for OBC category are reserved.

CAT 2017 Exam Pattern and Syllabus

Total Duration: 3 hours

Total Questions: 100

Pattern: MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) + Objective Type

Mode: Pen and Pencil

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Data Interpretation
  • Quantitative Analysis & Ability

Selection Procedure

After the CAT 2017 exam, you will have to appear for the second round of Written Exam and third round of Group Discussions and Personal Interview.
